These are just a few of the more popular requested venues. We suggest you avoid the harsh conditions of a high sun by restricting your session times to either start 2 hours after sunrise or start 2 hours before sunset.
Annapolis - Old Town
Historic streets and shops, limited street and lot parking. Street-life, shops, historic buildings. Limited street and lot parking. In season can be crowded. Dog friendly
Annapolis - Water Front
Lovely harbor but bright morning sun can be an issue. Late afternoon will have a lot of sailboats. Should be combined with walking tour of Old Town. Limited street and lot parking.
Annapolis - Quiet Waters
Entrance fee per car. Lots of parking. Events (weddings, concerts, etc) can restrict access to some areas. Fountains (seasonal), gardens, bridge, gazebos, multiple levels, access though paved trail to water overlooks. Very popular and dog friendly (small dog beach).
Baltimore Inner Harbor - WaterFront
Walking from the Rusty Scupper towards the Domino Sugar sign. Great for cityscape and views of the waterfront showcasing Baltimore.
Benches, boats and more. Best shot in evening and combined with Promenade session.
Baltimore Inner Harbor - Promenade
Views of the Baltimore haror boats, sculptures, benches, canal, cityscape, Maryland science Center. Street parking and parking lot at the Rusty Scupper. Best if shot at Golden Hour in the evening.
Baltimore American Visionary Arts Museum
The main interest is the “Love” sign.
Commercial shoots inside the AVAM property will require a permit. Depending on the season, this may be the first or last shot of the Baltimore Inner Harbor session. We will want the sign lit and no cars parked on the street.
Brighton Dam Azalea Gardens
2,000 azalea bushes over 5 acres in a hardwood forest. For best photo opportunity, check with bloom schedule as peak bloom is generally early May. Walking trails with water views, benches. Parking is limited due to renovations.
Old Ellicott City
Known for its historic charm, iconic street photography. Wooded trails are all around. Ellicott City Station is the oldest surviving train station in the United States. Street parking and parking lots are available.
Federal Hill
Federal Hill is a picturesque area dating from the 18th century. Can drive to back entrance with no stairs to climb but limited parking. Park in front, but over 100 steep steps on side. Two levels overlooking Inner Harbor. Fantastic views of city when lit up. Benches, trees, Garrison Flag, lamps and lots of people. Sunset left of city. Limited parking
Howard County Lakes, Centennial
This 54-acre lake is the largest lake of the three reviewed here. It features a rock jetty at the boat ramp side - great for photos. A single trail leads around to the far side for sunset photos. Benches and flowering trees are provided along the path. Small parking lots can fill up quickly.
Howard County Lakes, Elkhorn
This 37-acre lake features stunning sunset views (1/2 round lake from dam). Several gazebos. Small parking lot.
Howard County Lakes, Kittamaqundi
This 27-acre lake is very colorful in fall. This venue features restaurants and trails around lake. This location is known to have events (concerts and art shows) that can draw lots of visitors. Street parking and several parking lots are available. Two levels with gardens. Wooden piers add to the charm.
Howard County Conservancy
Open field and gardens. Rustic old buildings and barn. For best results check blooming schedule. Trails open dusk to dawn.. Popular wedding venue. Parking lot.
Jerusalem Mills Village
Covered bridge, historic buildings, open field and creek. Very small parking lot will fill up quickly.
Patapsco State Park - Hollofield Area
Swinging bridge, creek, wooded trails dam, railroad tracks and shelters. Small waterfalls. Several parking lots.
Port Deposit
19th century historic town located on the east bank of the Susquehanna River near its discharge into the Chesapeake Bay. Historic street, views. Directly across from Susquehanna State Park. Street parking, few small lots.
Savage Mill
Site of world’s oldest iron bridge which is lit up at night. Quaint outdoor courtyard, indoor retail shops, large chair for posing.
Walking trail and creek. Several parking lots. Popular wedding venue.
Sherwood Gardens
Known for their tulip gardens, there are various flowering plants from Spring to Fall. Peak blooming for tulips is early May. Check blooming schedule. Will need permit for Commercial photography. Lots of shade and benches. Limited street parking so come for an early morning shoot.
